Robotazia’s account of the weeks so far at the Milton Keynes Central Library.

Robotazia coffee shop

We had 7 days to transform a bland starkly lit room into our fully functioning coffee shop and robot museum.

Quite a gruelling week of lifting and manoeuvring, of counters, fridges, walling and of course robots.

Our star attraction then and still now has been “Amy” our robot waitress.

I have to say “Amy” gave us (Alfredo and Bartek our technicians and myself) some stress in the first few days.  She is the latest model robot waitress, and trying to understand the translated instructions has at times been frustrating. We get occasional problems with her, but we seem to have resolved most of these now and she is by and large behaving.

Probably the second most popular robot has been the X-10.  X-10

Equipped with a robot voice PA system, we sited him near the entrance, to greet (or occasionally scare) incoming visitors.

Our team member “Stephen” has done a stellar job of entertaining guests with this. When time allows we have also driven the X-10, mainly in circles (as we have limited space) just to demonstrate his abilities.

“Sergio SG66” is operational, although there will be limited demo’s as he has little room, and his flailing arms will have to be closely monitored.  But he is an interesting automaton, worth seeing in action.

Lastly we at Robotazia just want to say a HUGE THANK YOU!

We opened the doors to the public on 15th of December. Since then we have had a massive response and support from Milton Keynes.

I’m sure everyone has heard the great news that we have extended our stay till the end of March at the Central Library in Milton Keynes.

We have had many incredible visitors through our doors. We would love to say thank you to…

Webber Independent School!

Falconhurst School

Milton Keynes College

Slated Row School

Red Way School

Pheonix Rising School

BBC Treasure Quest

SKY Channel 757 (NTV)

Nadia (The Great British Bake Off) and her family

Laura from Milton Keynes Kids

And thank you to all who have visited, including our regulars. We really look forward to meeting many more of you and coming to see our amazing extraordinary robots!

There is so much more to Robotazia, which will become apparent when we have larger premises.

Thank you from Mark and all the team at Robotazia.
